Scalloping

Ozello Key – Homosassa – Crystal Rriver

Shallow Diving for Scallops is a great way to spend a day with family and friends.

Plus you take home a bunch of Scallops for a Big Meal that evening.

Snorkeling for Florida Scallops is like an Easter Egg Hunt but under water. Equipped with a snorkel, mask, fins or water shoes and a Scallop bag our guests find Scallops in 3ft – 10ft of water. Don’t be concerned about being skunked their are literally hundreds of thousands of scallops on the bottom of the waters we take you too.

If you haven’t eaten Scallops before you are in for a big treat. Scallops are one of the tastiest critters you will ever pull from the sea. They are rich like lobster but have a sweet flavor to them. Most people fry them in a hot pan with a little butter and garlic. Don’t over cook them, give each side from 60-90 seconds and then pull them from the pan and put them on a plate to rest for about 5 minutes. The Scallops will continue to cook and retain their moisture this way.

Call Captain Kenny to arrange your Scallop trip. Captain Kenny’s boat can accomodate up to 6 people for Scallop trips.

Since a party of 4-6 people can literally harvet hundreds of Scallops we ask that you clean (shuck) them yourself. Captain Kenny will show you how to clean them and sitting aroound cleaning Scallops can almost be as much fun as diving for them.
